In The Black God Trope, I theorize Black Nationalist rhetorical strategies as an avenue to better understand African American communication practices. I demonstrate how Black communicators use writing about God to create a language that reflects African Americans’ shifting subjectivity within the American experience.

This self-produced literary art project is a light-hearted tale about leadership in a grassroots African American context. The story examines Black male socialization through the eyes of a fraternity member at a small HBCU in North Carolina. 

 The Media Assault on the Black Male

Examines the intersection of racist cultural rhetorics and 20th Century news media outlets in the creation of a criminalized formulation of Black male identity.
